Description:
The footprint introduction project was designed to show who I am as a person. The art was to introduce myself to my class, which can also be used to introduce myself in my classroom one day. We had to trace our footprint and cut it out. The project required three different media types and was graded off of craftsmanship, the use of media, the inclusion of our name, and the use of space.
Symbols:
A picture of my family to represent who all makes up my family
An "H" to represent my hometown of Huron and where I hope to return to teach
An iced coffee because I have an iced coffee addiction
A drawing of a dog to represent the three dogs I have
A musical note to represent my love of attending concerts
A purse to represent one of my favorite hobbies -- shopping
A drawing of a steak because that's my favorite food
An "A+" to represent my future career as an elementary teacher
A baby announcement to represent me becoming a first time aunt
Extension Activity: A You and Me Venn Diagram Project
I would pair the students up with another student in the classroom. The students would create a Venn diagram that displays the similarities and differences between them. Once the students have created their Venn diagram, they can discuss and reflect on what they share and what they don't share.
